About Mario

Hi! I’m the son & grandson of Mexican immigrants. My maternal grandmother came to the U.S. in the 1950s & my father came in the 1970s. Similar to your stories, my father and grandmother went through difficult times learning a new way of life, language, culture & being a long way from home. Their journeys have impacted the way I see the world & my work ethic.

Seeing how the conversation around immigrants has changed over the years, I knew that I had to do something to help my community and what better way than to help my community as an immigration attorney.

Earning my law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2015 and shortly after my license, I have been practicing law ever since. Before setting up my own practice, I was working as an attorney at RAICES (Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services), a Texas nonprofit that advocates and provides legal services to immigrants and refugees. I was interning as a student attorney at St. Mary’s University’s Immigration and Human Rights Clinic. Prior to starting law school, I was working in the Congress at the House Committee on Homeland Security for four and half years evaluating congressional appropriations and budgets to homeland security agencies.

I’m looking forward to serving you and building your case together.

Sincerely,

Mario H. Cantú
